Along with the many amenities here at Desert Aire, we also offer to residents their very own private airport. The Airport's runway and taxi way surface is made from a hot mix asphalt. The lighting package includes runway lights, taxi way reflectors, safety signs, a rotating beacon, a lighted wind cone, and a PAPI (Precision Approach Path Indicator). Now pilots can find and use the airport even in the darkness. A radio remote control device turns the lights on with the click of a pilots microphone, while the plane lands or takes off. After fifteen minutes the lights shut themselves off.
